It's fine if you never been a beta before. As for dates, it really depends on the writer, some like to get their betaing done early while others like to have their beta at a later stage. You may include the time frame that work best for you when you sign up. Hope that helps! :D

I'm betaing (fic/art/both): fic (although I wrote 'dic' twice, I caught the mistake! My prowess, see it at work!) ...sorry, SASSY makes me EXCITE!
Beta strengths: grammar, punctuation, characterization, plot checking & brainstorming, catching those pesky little mistakes, cheerleading like a boss
Beta weakness: I HATE COMMAS. I need to refer constantly to a book I have which has 47 pages //whimper// of comma & semicolon rules. I generally will correct (using Word's 'track changes' function) what I can, but when I'm unsure, I make note to the writer to use their own judgement.
I do not Beta: Anything over 30k. I just...I'm burned out from the SPN J2 BB and I just can't. );
