Joke of the night: My ass hurts, I've been sitting since last year... (2011)

Jan 01, 2011 04:39

The countdown to 2011 was quite an experience. Hopefully whatever lies under the LJ cut will be a good and detailed enough recap of the experience those stuck in Singapore had during the Countdown! Even though we don't seem like we miss you and we might have said we don't want to see your face/don't want to talk to you (lol, Weelyn)... you girls were missed at the Countdown! <3

It has been a tradition to spend it with the usual group of girls, and this year, only Jo, Eunice, Huang Chi, Ethel, Max and I were in Singapore and could make it. But we were so determined on making it work, so there we went about making plans to have, once again, a picnic outside the Esplanade and countdown and watch the fireworks while all the Singaporeans and foreign workers walk by and either 1) laugh at us or 2) laugh with us.

I was extremely set on getting Garett's popcorn for the picnic, so HC and I queued for about an hour before we got our hands on the awesomeee Chicago Mix. This very awesome Chicago Mix was also the cause of us being relatively late in joining Eunice & Jo... and thus failing to successfully get through to the Esplanade side because the management or whoever is the security company/agent this year decided that it'd be quite a funny joke to barricade the ENTIREEE border of Esplanade after 10pm or so... and so, HC and I walked from Citilink to Marina Square in the hope of getting thru to Esplanade, but failed, and then we continued walking down thinking we could cross the road eventually, but no, you had to have a ticket to the ridiculous Countdown Party nonsense to cross the road (WHAT?!), so we walked to the end of the road, which would take us to MBS, and thank goodness I convinced HC to turn back to Marina Square and start all over again!

Far king hellllzzzz because we started all over again, this time, we ended up at the side opposite Esplanade but at the Padang. At this point, I told HC: "I'm convinced that we're going to be spending the countdown together, alone." (cause Eunice, Jo, Max & TQ were at Esplanade already) and then just as about that, I hear this person carrying an electronic fan and in my head I'm like 'Siaoz, hardcore man.' And then HC goes 'Is that Ethel?' loudly. And before I could take a closer look, she turns back and it felt as if I just saw civilisation in a jungle or smth, LOL! Oh and may I add that the entire time we were trying to get to Esplanade, we couldn't contact any of the ppl at Esplanade, so really, it just felt like trying to get to this island which no one has contact with and it's IMPOSSIBLE TO GET IN. I hate to use the word impossible, but it really was... unless, you had an insider, which we didn't.

So we had to make the Esplanade ppl leave their good picnic spot, which they say must have been hilarious cause there were ppl around them and they must have thought they were crazy to pack up before the countdown could even begin, lol! We settled down at the end near the bridge between Fullerton & Esplanade and near Padang... it wasn't too bad a spot really, and I still had a whole lot of fun after that.

Long story short: at 11pm, I was fucking pissed because we had to walk so much to only find out that there was no possible way of getting to the Esplanade AT ALL. Not that spending the countdown with HC was bad (in fact, I must thank God that I had HC with me... I was close to being in tears and was very desperate that I would have gone home or hung at Macs instead), but it was sad to have plans go to waste because of unforeseen circumstances whereby the stupid management of this countdown decides NOT to close the roads and lead pedestrians stranded. But at the end of the well, last day of 2010, it was quite an experience and I had fun.

Oh, and let's not get to the part about getting hold of a cab at City Hall. City Hall was like a mental hospital on the loose, people were running on the roads to get cabs and cabs would be horning at those people and shit like that, all the queues were long with people on their phones, trying their luck to get through a cab hotline. INSANE. But still, what an experience.

NEXT YEAR, WE'RE ALL SET ON GETTING A ROOM AT MBS. Booking tmr. LOL. JK.

Oh and I would like to thank Max & TQ for getting cooling water for me... HAHAHAHAHA, I still find it very amusing and hilarious!

Happy New Year everyone & hope this year keeps us all safe and good things await us... yeah, like for example, the BIG 2.

My New Year Resolutions (even though I still think resolutions are fos for the fact we all know we fail in making them work but we still make them) but I'm still going to make them, LOL! -

MAKE THINGS HAPPEN. ELIMINATE EXCUSES. NO PROCRASTINATION (lol)

Vague but as long as I know what I mean, that's good enough. No such thing as no vulgarities or what nonsense, cause as Max would like to emphasize, my first word of 2011 was 'FUCKING'... lol. But anyway, the above resolution will be foreseeably difficult to accomplish, so a easier one at least will be:

STOP BITING THE INSIDES OF MY MOUTH which always makes me look like I am constantly eating smth cause my mouth is moving
HAVE A GOOD SLEEPING HABIT

Hopefully 2011 sees me in a different land. Sees & takes those who want to be in a different land, in a different land.

MOST IMPORTANTLY, THANK YOU ALL MY DARLING BELOVED FRIENDS FOR MAKING 2010 A MEMORABLE ONE FOR ME.

2011, resolutions, new year
