Heliotrope Tutorial
I received an order for a heliotrope this week, so I thought I’d take photos (with my phone, d’oh) as I went along to show the progress.
First are the loops that are the base of the petals. They are wrapped around a cylinder object the size I want, and then twisted together at the ends to retain the shape.
The petals are now covered with their nylon in the proper color.
Shaped and given their interior color with a simple black sharpie, the petals now begin to make a bit more sense.
The stem and stamen are assembled along with the central piece of the flower itself.
Almost finished; the flower is assembled, but has yet to be shaped properly.
All done! Shaped, colored, covered, and shaped some more, you now have a heliotrope.
