Anubis hasn't been eating the past week or so. I assumed he was just being picky about the food - stubbornly waiting until we put something -interesting- in it for him, but that turned out not to be the case. After about three days, i started trying to coax him to eat, deliberately putting the sort of things he likes in with his dinner - but he still wasn't interested. I tried changing his food just to see if he was bored with the current stuff, to no avail. Literally the only thing he's eaten in about a week is the left over half slice of cheese every morning from when i give Talis his medication. He's still drinking, but he's lethargic and depressed and he's lost enough weight for it to be visible.
So, he's at the vet today. They are good to us - they took him today despite the short notice - and they are as worried as i am.
He's currently there at the vet, being tested for Addison's Disease. He's displaying about 95% of the symptoms of it, but it is what the doctor called "the great mimicker' -- and it could be any number of things. But, the test is to absolutely positively rule it out so that we can go from there.
You guys should see him. If you know Anubis, you know he's bouncy, happy, active and even a little hyper -- and he has been none of those things this past week. It is ... disheartening. And i admit, i am stressed out.
It is amazing how empty the house can seem when one of the pets is missing. Even if it is just for the afternoon.
