Phones

MK has been having issues with his phone for a few months now - it has literally erased itself and reset to factory defaults on him more than once, including losing his contact list. He's been casually looking for a new one since the first time it did it, obviously. =I= have seriously increased my use of text messaging in the past few weeks, and quickly have gotten tired of the regular 'mash the numbers multiple times til you get the letter you want' style of input, and so have been casually considering a new phone with one of the qwerty keyboards integrated.

Our AT&T[Cingular] account has been active for ... oh... however long our current numbers have been active. That's a good while, to say the least. So, basically - we were free to shop around for different plans/companies/phones without worrying about a contract. So - we did. After a bit of research and a few text messages sent out to various important peoples in my life - we decided to go with Verizon. MK got a military discount for being a DoD civilian - %15 off of every month's bill plus a discount on the phones we chose, on top of the pretty nice standard features of the plan we chose. The salesman we dealt with was great; and yes, i am aware that it is a very rare thing that i say that.

MK ended up with a razor-style flip phone, updated for ..y'know... today. It has got the features he wanted [photo id on the main screen as well as the small outer screen, for one], is slick and small, and he seems happy with it. He set it up with an ATB-techno-type ringtone which i am certain i am going to kill him for before too long.

I ended up with the LG DARE. It's got -way more- than i originally went looking for in a phone, but i am so tickled pink with it that i cannot properly express how tickled pink i am. It's got a touch screen input, dynamic horizontal/vertical display depending on how you are holding the phone, the touch screen qwerty keyboard, customizable wallpapers [yes, i already added my own creations], photo ids for contacts, it can play music, and on and on and on. Yes, tickled pink is the way I'd describe myself right now. MK says it is verizon's answer to the iPhone, but I've never even looked at one of those, so i wouldn't really know.

Long story short [too late!] -- I now have unlimited text messaging to everyone in the US, plus unlimited calling to other verizon peoples. If you enjoy keeping in touch via text message, drop me a line here with your #, and we can talk. [I'd also love it if i could get a link to a photo of you, so i can add it to your entry.] To those of you whom i already text -- you no longer have to worry about my 6 texts per day/200 per month limit. Enjoy.

Oh. No. Our numbers didn't change. You don't have to update anything on your end.
