And this may or may not be related to the thing in my previous comment, but it is definitely related to the art in the post and to the tag line that you gave to it:
"You are wearing a wedding veil," Ueda laughs softly as he and Nakamaru collapse in his living room. Nakamaru hardly ever drinks, and even less so when out and without Ueda, so it was a little surprising when Kame called Ueda and demanded he came pick Nakamaru up from some bar. But Ueda did because that's what Nakamaru would do for him too, and now the said Nakamaru is sprawled half in his lap in the middle of his messy living room.
"Why are you wearing a veil?" Ueda asks this time, because Nakamaru just keeps nodding and looking at Ueda like he is some kind of magic.
"I think the question you should be asking," Nakamaru giggles a little, "is how Kame managed to conjure up a wedding veil in the middle of a high end club in Roppongi."
Ueda rolls his eyes and holds Nakamaru's sides so he doesn't fall side ways as he is balancing on one of his knees.
"What about the bouquet then?" he questions next.
"Ah," Nakamaru smiles serenely, sticking the huge amount of flowers right under Ueda's nose, "that is for you."
Ueda only shakes his head but takes the bouquet and makes to stand up, wanting to put it into some vase if he can find one or some big spare glass that he normally drinks vitamin water from after a boxing session. Nakamaru should know better by now that any flowers die a horrible death in his apartment. Ueda secretly likes that he keeps trying anyway.
He is almost completely up, when Nakamaru pulls him back by his hand.
"I am not that drunk," he says, lowering his voice in conspiracy. "I'm just," he searches for the right word, clicking his tongue, "giddy. And I wanted you to come pick me up."
Ueda only nods. He knows; Nakamaru's pupils aren't really swimming in his head and his expression is far too focused.
"Is the old age getting to your brain? I'm supposed to be the one acting childish, among the two of us," Ueda says and sits back down.
"There's more chiffon in my bag," Nakamaru murmurs, and then he reaches for it, draping it around Ueda's waist like some kind of a weird skirt. "Now we are both brides."
"Are you getting married?" Ueda asks in amusement. "Did you get a girlfriend while I wasn't looking?"
"Ah," Nakamaru shuffles through his bag some more. "I like to think you never stop looking at me," he says matter of factly.
Ueda cocks his head at a small square box in Nakamaru's hands.
"I bought this today. And I was planning on asking you on your birthday, but then I went for a dinner with Kame, and he took one look at me and I spilled all my secrets. And now we are both all made up." Nakamaru gestures between the two of them, fingers catching on his veil a little.
Ueda blinks. Nakamaru reaches for Ueda's hand then, buried under all the chiffon.
"Let's get married, old friend."
Ueda's eyes grow wide as he looks at two simple rings in the square box. Nakamaru is looking at him earnestly and completely sober now, and it doesn't matter that they can't get married, here. Not for real, but Nakamaru has been talking about it, about a small ceremony with their closest friends, where they would exchange sappy vows and kisses, and Ueda might have liked all the stupid details Nakamaru thought of, like the color of flowers on their pocket flops, and the desert for the wedding menu and their song ... He may have his own vow written already. He figured that if Nakamaru had ever asked, he'd need to be ready.
"Only if there is no chiffon involved," Ueda says, eyes laughing and lips already tingling with Nakamaru's soft kiss.
"You have a deal. That's what today is for, anyway."
OH MY GAWWWWWWWWWD. oh man I did not expect this. I kept telling Seki that her picture deserves a drabble at the very least and uwa you delivered. I love that it's Nakamaru who says it and ughhh all my feels. Good god, you're the best. ilusoooooofm <3<3<3<3<3<3
I feel like crying and I'm on the train now. This is the sweetest thing I've ever read oh Alex. "Let's get married, old friend" my heart. And Ueda being secretly romantic and looking forward to Nakamaru proposing, I love this idea. And I giggled at both of them being brides. You're so wonderful, Alex<3
<3 That phrase, Let´s get married, old friend, is actually a tag line for the fan art, it was written by the artist. But Yay for this giving you feelings, though sorry about the train part ♥
