Summary: Changmin isn't pleased of Jaejoong writing cheesy poems on the wall of their university's old building. So when he befriended Yunho, he was certain that the new transfer student and Jaejoong will get along very well.
If Changmin did not have class today, he would be very stressed at this moment, now that Jaejoong's messy room had gone mad. The man had been changing clothes after clothes since he woke up that day and it was only two hours left before they meet up at a certain coffee shop. Jaejoong was about to change his current clothes again because it was too tight and his chest was showing off when the doorbell rang.
Jaejoong almost forgot how to breathe when he saw Yunho at their doorstep.
"Hi," Yunho smiled in amusement because the man in front of him was gaping like a fish. "Yo Jae?"
"Oh.. Oh," He tried so hard not to panic because… "You're early, did I misheard the meeting time?"
Yunho smiled again then answered. "No…not at all.."
"But… one in the afternoon right? Come in.." Yunho followed Jaejoong, slipping off his shoes and coat.
"Yes, I figured we need to eat lunch first so yeah, I went a little early.."
"Let me change first, help yourself Jung,"
Jaejoong half ran to his room. "GAH! Why so early!" Whatever. So Jaejoong did not bother if he's wearing off as long as it looked good and comfortable. He put all of his necessities in his bag and hurriedly went outside.
"I'm done!"
Jung Yunho took 3 seconds to admire the man in front of him who was wearing a black rimmed glasses and cream coloured coat.
"Let's go~"
It was a fine dining restaurant and Jaejoong could not help but wonder what ingredients were used in the food they were eating right now. It was so tasty and he was so sure Changmin would like it. Thanks to Yunho he was able to eat here. More than a week had passed and both of them were surprised how fast they had gotten close to each other. Even exchanging numbers and talking to each other almost every night. Then Jaejoong remembered, both of them share the same interest and he was happy to meet Yunho. He would never have to write on the wall just to release his frustrations. He would never had to hide during lunch because Yunho was there to accompany him. Jaejoong had to admit that he felt something special to Yunho. But too soon, too soon to say it aloud because he needed to confirm some stuffs. Yunho probably knew that he was gay. But Jaejoong was too afraid to ask the other man about his preference.. Changmin might help him anyway.
"So Jae, where did you meet Changmin?" Yunho asked, interrupting his deep thoughts.
"Umm.. We both went to the same high school and accidentally on the same university.. Since the flat my parent got was a bit large for a me.. I asked him to live with me.."
"For free?"
"As if! I ask him to pay his share!"
"I see," Yunho flashed his smile. Jaejoong thought he hurt his eyes.
"How about you, why did you transfer here?" Jaejoong asked curiously, randomly poking Yunho's dimsum on his plate.
"Ah.. I was taking up a medical course on my former school… but I told my parents I'll shift to engineering because I can’t continue anymore and it's what I love.. So yeah, they agreed. My friend recommended this university so I tried. The teaching curriculum was good so far.. Some people are nice.. You..Changmin..etcetera etcetera.."
"Some people…" Jaejoong repeated, fully aware of the reason why Yunho said some.
"Some people.." And the both of them ate in comfortable silence. This is it. Yunho thought. Later, after the gallery date (he shamelessly called it date!), he will ask Jaejoong to go out with him. To date him. He was well aware that he was pretty fast and it would never surprise him if Jaejoong reject him. It has been weeks anyway, but he could say that they were already close to each other so he would give it a try. Especially that he had confirmed Jaejoong's preference days ago.
"Jae, I am going to tell you something later, okay?"
"Sure,"
"Yunho-ah!" A tiny girl rising just below Yunho's shoulder came running upon seeing the both of them entering the gallery. Yunho turned and gave the girl a wide smile.
"Boa!"
Boa? Yunho-ah? Jejoong mentally raised his eyebrow..he could feel that he would not be able to enjoy his time on the exhibit today.
"I'm so glad you came!" She gave Yunho a quick peck on his cheeks when the girl noticed Jaejoong who was busying himself by looking at the catalogue the front desk gave them a while ago.
"Boa.. This is my friend.. Jaejoong-sshi, Jaejoong-sshi this is Boa,"
Jaejoong faked a smile. Boa gave him a sweet one. Then Yunho stared awkwardly because he was wondering why Jaejoong looked like he had lost his interest towards the exhibit. Oh no, he need to confess no matter what.
"Hey Jae,"
"Sorry, I was a little out of it," Jaejoong replied without being asked. He was digging holes on the tiled floor now and Yunho needs to stop him.
"Are you okay? Shall we go home?" Yunho who now had his full attention to Jaejoong, asked.
I'm not okay! But who was he to feel jealous? He had no rights on that but he could not help it. And then he realized, Yunho was the one who invited him there so he better behave like a good friend and enjoy the rest of their time inside the gallery. Jaejoong looked up at Yunho with a somewhat forced smile and replied, "I'm okay, shall we go?"
"Sure! Come on,"
"Dancing to Colors," He read the name of the beautifully painted image on the far left corner of the place. It was an image of a woman dancing in circular motion with colorful tiles under her. Just like the name, the painting was easily interpreted. "Brilliant colors, very detailed, and the point of view is just…awesome…"
"And the movement.." Yunho added with lameness on his comment. Why? He was busy adoring the man beside him that's why. The result of today would determine if his confession would make Jaejoong accept him..or not...but he would rather think on the positive side.
Before he knew it, the smaller man already went to the other end of the place drooling over the huge elephant painting. "Oh! An elephant!"
"You like elephants?"
"I love elephants!"
How about Yunho? He wanted to ask but his mind contradicted. Too soon Yunho, too soon. Instead, he replied, "I will buy you elephants,"
"I will look forward to that,"
Yunho scratched his head, the man is not serious now is he?
Screw that, he will buy whatever Jaejoong wanted and before he could do that, he had to confess first.
"Yunho-yah!" But his petite friend showed at the wrong time, even clinging her arms to his in which Jaejoong saw. The man kind of frowned so he turned his back to them.
"Oh, what brings you here?"
"Dinner later?"
"Err.. I have a friend with me, you see.." Yunho said, sending mental signals to his friend.
"But we can go together!"
Little did the know that Jaejoong was silently cursing under his breath. Then go with her. Jaejoong frowned.
When Yunho was walking along the streets hours ago..he was with Jaejoong but right now he was going home….alone. His plan was ruined and his mood was getting worse. Damn boa and her childish acts. He was so worried about Jaejoong -- the man would not answer his calls nor reply to his mails so he called Changmin.
"Min?"
[Yeah? He's not here yet, I thought you're both together?"]
"Aish, something happened,"
[Wait..What?]
"I'll tell you tomorrow, Min, call me when Jaejoong's home alright?"
[Sure thing]
Yunho sighed. He would talk to Jaejoong tomorrow at school and explain everything.
Jaejoong was carrying his usual bag today. After lunch, instead of meeting up with Yunho, Jaejoong stealthily went to the old building. His mind was in mess and the only way to organize his thoughts was to express it through painting. Luckily because the place was somewhat hidden, he was happy that nobody had yet found his wall or else punishment will be given to him.
He hated himself right now. He hated how he hoped that Yunho will tell something good to him yesterday yet he did not wait for it, rather, the man had already showed it. Yunho and Boa..what a perfect pair.
After he walked out of the restaurant, he hurriedly went home and locked himself in his room. Changmin did not asked him though which was a good thing, especially when Yunho called the maknae.
Face it Jaejoong, you'll never be able to find serious relationship. He told himself of the painful truth. Who was the one who told Changmin that he would never like Yunho? Him. Yet he was the first one who felt something towards the other man. Jaejoong thought he had finally found the one but reality slapped him out of his delusional thoughts...
Yunho is straight. Get over it.
He did not have to confirm because it was very obvious to Yunho.
But..how about the gallery date?
Date?
Jaejoong hated thinking so much about those depressing things. If it was possible to just paint them away with happy thoughts he would have done it as soon as possible. But no.
He did not know he was thinking too long when he realized that he had already finished painting.. All that left were the sonnet that kept on repeating in his head. Jaejoong searched for his fine tip and started writing.
He failed to see Jaejoong today, he never saw the man in the cafeteria nor his classroom. Changmin did not know too and it was making him worried. While walking he passed along the old building…that one time when Jaejoong toured him around, he remembered he was going back to the mysterious passageway behind the old building. And because no one noticed him, curious Yunho went inside. The man was expecting mountains of garbage but what welcomed him was a clean place, with wooden bench under the tree. When he turned around, he noticed a wall. But the wall was no ordinary, it was painted with almost-abstract strokes and lines from poems and lyrics.
"To play the watchman ever for thy sake:
For thee watch I, whilst thou dost wake elsewhere,
From me far off, with others all too near."
Yunho read it over and over again. It was Shakespeare's. Sonnet 61. He knew in his mind that it was written randomly, but what was the reason why he was feeling guilty right now?
Jaejoong was having his fourth coffee that day. His classes for today were already over so he went to the café to ease his broken heart. But the coffee was useless.
Then his phone rang.
[Hey Jae!]
"Yoochun," Jaejoong answered, puzzled because Yoochun called him out of nowhere.
[Tomorrow's my birthday, wanna come?]
"I will think about it,"
[Hyunjoong's going too,]
I don't care. "I see,"
[I heard what happened yesterday..]
"Yeah two of your officers are assholes."
[Sorry bout that, you know Hyunjoong, he's such a paranoid over you, being jealous for no reason,]
Jaejoong did not answer.
[So you'll come?]
"Okay okay,"
Jaejoong did not know why he agreed. But he thought of Hyunjoong. He was there with him although the man always make Jaejoong pissed. If he accept Hyunjoong again in his life, will he become happy? Would he forget Yunho? After all, they were friends not more than a month so nothing would be lost. Unlike Hyunjoong. But his heart beats for Yunho.
Ah. Whatever. Whatever. Whatever.
