One of my favorite things to do in Phnom Penh is to ride on the back of a moto. For some reason, it makes me feel like anything is possible. The city just feels more comfortable at a higher speed…cooler, with fewer Cambodians staring at me as I pass, and I get to laugh at the ridiculous flow of traffic. This streets of this city are like… perfectly and completely organized CHAOS. It took me a month to notice that some of the cars here have the drivers side on the left, and others on the right. No big deal, really, since you can drive on whichever side of the street that you want. When you turn left, for example, you merge first into the left lane (yes, into oncoming traffic) and then work your way over to your side of the street. Yes. I love Cambodia.
I do miss hot showers. Or even warm showers. I also miss the dryer. It’s so humid here that nothing ever dries and damp clothes do NOT smell or look very good. I think it’s time to find a laundry place that has a dryer…
So much work at KeoKjay lately! And everyone's been sort of down and out.
Rasmai had to work both days of her weekend to finish the samples of the clothes we're bringing to the states, and Ravi and Sam Ahn are STILL working on the damn Norway order, which Rachel budgeted to take 2 days, eight days ago. Sigh. I bought them all a huge bowl of fruit to share, but they were too busy with their sewing to stop to enjoy it for long.
We're sending off the LA samples today. Hopefully things will ease up after that.
I've decided to learn French. Seriously.
Tomorrow I'm going to the French Cultural Center (Centre Culturel Francais, oui oui!) and signing up for a class.
