legalities

I LOVE legal language. Talk about preparing for the worst case scenario!
Here is one portion of a contract we're signing, which I found to be hysterically funny. (I changed the names of the mentioned parties, for fear that they would sue me for copyright violation for posting this to my blog...or something...I mean, who KNOWS?!)

8.) Force Majeure/ Termination. (a) If The Gallery is
prevented from or interfered with in any manner whatsoever in fully
performing its agreements (including its ability to conduct all or a
portion of the Event) hereunder, by reason of any present or future
law, regulation or order, act of God, earthquake, flood, fire,
epidemic, accident, explosion, casualty, labor controversy
(including but not limited to threatened or actually lockout, boycott
or strike), riot, civil disturbance, war or armed conflict, act or threat
of terrorism, delay of a common carrier, inability without fault on The
Gallery part to obtain sufficient goods or services
required in the conduct of its business; or by reason of any other
cause or causes of any similar nature (all of the foregoing being
herein referred to as an “event of force majeure”), then The Gallery's
obligation hereunder will be suspended as often
as any such event of force majeure occurs and during such
occurrences, The Gallery’s nonperformance will
not be deemed a breach of this Agreement.

hahahahha

I can't believe they can actually insure themselves against an "act of God."
Isn't that a bit religiously-insensitive?
(SUE em!)

And I wonder how long the terrorist threat line has been in there...?
