On the road

I'm Siem Reap.
It's a city full of tourists and giant ancient temples.
I'm trying really hard to be excited about it.
I'm more excited about the gekkos that are running all over the walls of this guest house.
They're considered good luck.
This guest house also has a little dog. He's the first dog that I've not run away from in a week, because I think it's safe to assume that if he lives here, he does not have rabies (not a safe assumption to make about city dogs). I wonder what it's like to be a Cambodian dog.... he is so very cute, with these giaaant eyes that look sad.
I quickly realized it was a dangerous road to go on to open my heart up to a little dog...it made me miss home :(

On the ride over, I started learning to knit. I made very good progress but it was a bumpy ride, it got dark, and I got a headache that is now consuming me. I also got into a huge argument with Rachel and am still feeling thoroughly crushed about it.

Okay, so another dog just ran into the lobby of this guest house and now he's running around the patio, and no one has noticed, so I wonder if he lives here too or if he's a stray, and if that's the case, my previous assumption about the lack of rabies was probably not as safe as I had originally thought...

Tomorrow I'm going to study my Khmer vocab. I have an amazing list, like "don't put meat in that" and "you don't know how to think." The latter of the two is a common phrase said to tuk tuk drivers that drive up to you and ask if you need a ride when you very obviously don't because you're like...on your bike, or very clearly arriving to your destination, or you've already told him that you don't need a freakin tuk tuk. I think this must be like my 15th entry about how much I hate tuktuk drivers, is it not? To be fair, I don't think much of Cambodian men in general. Okay, "fair" is not a good word.... I'm probably not being "fair." Perhaps just truthful.
