Tonight ruined poetry for me.
It was a breaking point.
After so many years of being forced to read it through the useless and pretentious lens that is "literary analysis," poetry has lost its mysticism and beauty to me.
I like clever poems, structured poems,
Poems that bring with them
A reason for them being written
Masked in rhyme and rhythm.
Should three hours pass, Professor,
And they inspire no comprehension,
Desist from teaching the (freakin) poems -
They don't deserve this much attention.
