And one of the most unlikely father figures in my life died this day fifteen years ago.

Keep tearing it up, wherever you are, Bill Hicks.

You continue to be a hero in so many ways.

I've really been getting into Bill Hicks the past few months.

And I totally blame K for his death.

I saw that post (it was yours that reminded me, though I'd been thinking about him a lot again this past month).

He was an imperfect savior, you know?

If you don't own Bill Hicks: Live, get thee to a purveyor of fine digital video discs and throw all your available money at them. It's worth it for any of the performances, but I'll always have a special place in my heart for the documentary.

I don't own it, but I Netflixed it two weeks ago. Amazing, amazing stuff. I would definitely like to own it on that blessed day when I have any small amount of extra income.

When you're so into him that you can bear the less-than-perfect set, I also highly recommend Sane Man. The backstage footage is amazing.

Seen that one too!

My favorite is Revelation - the one in London. Just amazing.

Well, then. You can YouTube his last show, but it's in 10 parts, and it's terribly depressing; it's a tiny club and there couldn't be more than 30 people there.
