we have a venue!
psyches_task and i have been working for a few months now on starting a new, craft-centered open mic in Burque. and today, my friends, it appears to have come.
starting the second Saturday of March, and continuing on second Saturdays, there will be seriously serious open mic action at the Sumner & Dene Gallery in downtown Albuquerque.
i have seen the space; gorgeous. upstairs (off street-level), great acoustics, spacious, hardwood floors, comfortable, inviting. i've met the owner; adorable and TOTALLY arts-focused. he doesn't even want to charge us! the place has a literary history (a certain sloppy drunken gay beat read there and hit on said owner in the back room (yes, theryk, that one)) and was built with the goal of becoming an epicenter for the arts.
we have a lot of plans for this thing, many of which will be revealed over the coming months of prep. but for now, YEEEEEEEEE HAWWWWWWWW!
