late-forming prompt from
sjen that I kind of just ran with. This ficlet probably sucks since I power-wrote it, I just wanted to write SOMETHING. I think I'll try some Leon & traverse town shenanigans next.
Characters: Organization XIII members
Rating: G
Prompt: "Don't patronize me."
“Why did you drag me all the way up here, Saïx?” Axel asked, arms loosely folded as he leaned against one of the eerily white walls. “I’ve got things to do.”
Saïx scoffed slightly, “I’m sure.” He turned around, blue hair swishing around his shoulders. “I know you have been running in circles … like a dog on a very short leash.”
Axel snickered. “Using similes you relate to, Saïx?”
“Cute.” Saïx glanced out the high windows, lips thinly pursed. “Number 1 wants you to go to Castle Oblivion.”
“…Marluxia’s playground? What for?”
“He’s planning something, that much is obvious,” Saïx replied softly, seemingly in thought about something else. “Infiltrate and convince him and whomever is in on his plan that you are as well. You have full authority to eliminate whomever betrays the Organization.”
Axel’s green eyes glistened with interest. “I’m flattered, Saïx~ I would have thought you’d chomp at the bit for a job like this.”
Saïx’s lips curled into something of a snarl. “Hardly.” He turned finally and flicked a strangely-shaped card at Axel, which the other deftly caught. “This will get you in. Don’t screw this up, Axel.”
“Screw up the most fun I’ll have in days?” Axel threw his head back and barked out a laugh. “No…I’m going to have fun with this.”
Saïx slowly walked over to the Organization’s number VIII, and while his expression was dim, Saïx’s eyes were sharp. “Should you prove incapable of completing this mission … I will finish you off myself.”
“…Heh.” Axel pulled his hood over his head and pocketed the card. “Love you too, Fido.” With that, he vanished into a door of shadows.
Not one second after Axel’s departure, Xemnas appeared out of his own doorway. “Did he take the bait?”
“Yes.” Saïx turned, a small smirk curling his lips. “You were right, sir. He would turn on us just as easily if the ‘right’ motivation were to appear. I won’t doubt you again.”
Xemnas closed his eyes, sighing irritably. “Do not patronize me, Saïx.”
“I would not dare, sir.”
