"No, the one who will not see the moon's light is you!"
"SEE YOU IN HELL, EVIL MAGISTRATE!"

Apollo moved even more off the edge of his seat. "Come on, Steel Samurai!" His fists were tightly clenched, his eyes not once leaving the screen of his small television. "--What? HEY! That can't be the end!" A low buzz broke Apollo out of his excitement. Curious, Apollo went over to the intercom and pressed the button. "Who is it?"

"....It's me."

Apollo blinked a few times. That voice.... "Prosecutor Gavin?"

"....Let me up, Herr Forehead."

"You don't have to call me th..." Apollo paused. Prosecutor Gavin didn't sound so hot and now as he thought more on it, that tone caused Apollo to worry. "All right, come up." (Where did he get my address from?) After a few tense moments, Apollo heard three slow knocks on his door and he dutifully opened it to reveal a soaking wet Klavier Gavin. "H-Hey! What happened to you? Too cool for an umbrella?"

"... I wasn't thinking, I guess." Klavier stood there, almost numb from the cold and his thoughts, barely aware that Apollo had rushed off to grab some towels. He was broken out of it by Apollo plopping a fluffy blue towel over the prosecutor's head. "..Herr forehead?"

Apollo made an annoyed sound. "It's Apollo. Apollo Justice, bringer of towels and preventer of colds. -- What's wrong, Gavin?"

"It's been ... a week since that trial .. and that verdict." Klavier reached up to slowly towel his hair dry, that characteristic spiral shape becoming quite unravelled. "I can't sleep. I keep thinking about ... that day. That laugh..."

The young defence attorney frowned and put a hand on Klavier's shoulder. Kristoph's haunting laugh when the innocent verdict was read by the jury ... it had haunted Apollo's dreams too. The only way he could get away from it was to watch these children action shows that he had borrowed from Mr. Wright. Apollo had lost his mentor, but Klavier lost a brother. They were both reeling from Kristoph's plot ... his deception .. his fear. "...Come and sit down, Gavin. I'll make some tea .. how's that?"

"...Thank you." Klavier slowly moved over to the couch, and almost dumbly blinked at the television screen. "...The Steel Samurai?"

Apollo grinned sheepishly. "It was really big nine years ago. I've been watching them to keep my mind off of what happened."

Klavier smiled faintly. "You're strange, Herr -- .. Justice."

(Well that's a start, at least...) Apollo thought. He quickly made two hot cups of tea and brough them over on a little tray. "... how did you know where I lived?"

"I remembered seeing you bike to this building when I was on my way to the coliseum ... that one time. The concert with Lamiror." Klavier looked down at his steaming hot drink, a thin smile on his lips. "You looked .. so silly."

"Hey!" Apollo blustered. "I'm saving the environment, you know. I'm not stinking up the ozone with that giant hog of yours. -- Say, Gavin?"

"What?"

".... I'm .. sorry about what happened ... with Mr. Gavin. That whole case ..." Apollo didn't know what else to say, and what he was saying wasn't much.

Klavier was silent for so long that Apollo thought that the next thing would be an imprint on his face from one of Klavier's rings. Slowly, the young man put his mug on the small coffee table. "Don't apologize. It's .. because of you that the darkness is gone from inside of me. I never thought anything of it at the time. How did Kristoph know about the forgery? And... Herr Wright's badge .. it was gone because of --"

Apollo gave Klavier a little shove. "You did what you were taught to do. And ... everything's all .. closed up now. Mr. Wright knew who the real culprit was ..... um. Sorry. But you know what Gavin? I don't think Mr. Wright blames you for that, and I wouldn't blame you either. What happened with Mr. Gavin ... he fell victim to his own greed and now .. well, now he got what was coming to him. Maybe he'll find himself again during that time. Oh! Hey. I know what will cheer you up! How about we go to the Wonder Bar tomorrow and see Trucy's show?"

Klavier didn't answer.

"...Prosecutor Gavin?" Apollo looked over as he felt a slight weight against his shoulder, and saw that Klavier had fallen asleep against him. "...heh. All right, you can stay over." (Maybe it'll be good for me too ... we can talk about it more in the morning...)
