I still haven't decided what to do with this journal. Lately, privacy issues are really getting to me. I feel that even things we take of granted, like Google, are turning into a sort of Big Brother. (For instance, did you know that Google remembers all your searches and binds them to your IP?) However, I did renew my livejournal account (using Paypal, which feels safer) because I can't stand seeing ads on my friendslist. It's like receiving a letter from a friend with ads in it... spoils all the pleasure. I've even been debating about getting another blog somewhere, a crafty, shallow blog with no content whatsoever except pictures.
For the time being, I'll post the shallow entries here- like this one.
I tried my hand at making a wallet, after spending too much time admiring
florspace's lovely ones. Mine is all lopsided and clumsy. I mostly made up my own pattern, loosely following
this tutorial (but I added a zipper pocket for change). There's no pocket for bills- it was far too difficult to figure that out.
Isn't this elephant fabric spiffy? I bought it from
superbuzzy I think.
Another random photo: chocolate truffles coated in cocoa powder, coconut flakes and matcha powder respectively, which I made and ate a long time ago, but never posted.
I'm reading Virginia Woolf's letters to Vita Sackville-West, and Han Suyin's "Wind in my sleeve". I'm spending my work time thinking about tessellations in hyperbolic space, and I got my qualification for applied math- which is very good, as I can apply for the maitre de conférence posts now. We are also thinking of formally changing our residence from Italy to France- there's a difference of almost 4000 euros in taxes to pay!
