Ah, pool. Another season ended a few weeks ago. I was playing Team 9-ball, and my team ended up doing pretty well. We made it to the playoffs, and ended up in 4th place for the season. Not bad. I ended up with about $30 in prize money, to be used right back at the pool hall.
Doing something a little different this season. I'm playing individually for the first time; no team pressure! And it's 8-ball instead of 9-ball. Which is veryveryvery different, strategy-wise. I'm still struggling a bit to get the hang of it. Last week was the 1st week, and I won!! I was actually hoping to end up without losing all of my matches, and not get shut out. So this is a good start.
I know I put a lot of pressure on myself to play well. It does get frustrating at times when I *know* I can shoot well but I collapse mentally. But I love the game despite all the nerves. When I get up at that table, everything else fades away. All the stupid shit I worry about? Temporarily out of sight. In a way, it helps keep me sane.
:D Of course, I will forget this as I lose games and start to yell maniacally at the table.
