PSA - Harry section up for grabs

Ok, who wants the PSA? The whole Harry section is up for grabs.

I haven't read Harry fic in forever, and I don't have much of an urge to do so in the future. Fauxwen's moved on and isn't in the fandom anymore, so I am after someone (or someones) who want to run the whole Harry section, meaning fiction and art, managing passwords, emails and links. Pretty much taking the whole PSA and running it, minus the James content.

I'm still going to run the James section, with lots of help from moshes. I'm going to pretty much separate it from the Harry section, meaning that James authors and artists will have their own separate listings, and some people will have both Harry and James profiles for fiction and art. I'll be doing this so I can run the James section as a separate entity. When Fauxwen was running the Harry section, I still archived a lot of Harry fic, and we worked together on the general running of the PSA. This time, I don't want to have anything to do with it, because if I get involved I tend to put a lot of time into it, time that I don't have, because I can't help myself. If something is not right, I am compelled to fix it, because I've been doing it for so long and have such a vested interest in it. But this time, whoever takes over the section will have complete control, can do what they want, archive what they want, and will need to manage the whole site, not just archiving fics. I will help out in the begining, showing you the ropes etc, but it's basically yours to run. I don't want to get caught up in it again.

So, still with me?

Specifics:

This is a major job. This is something that you can't do alone; you would either run it by yourself, with a group of people helping you find/read/rate fics and art (you would need to find and manage these helpers), or you would run it with a couple of other people, and probably still have helpers to find/read/rate content. (If you want to run it with a few people, it would be good if you knew them to some extent.)

The content has been assessed, all links have been checked and the html has been cleaned up on all the pages (that's the revamp I've been doing for the last several months). So the content is all fine. It doesn't, however, have any recent content. So one of the first things you would need to do is get all the author and artist profiles up to date. Also, a database is being set up that will make archiving and finding content so much easier, so another initial thing will be to help input all the content into this database (I'll be doing a lot of this too, and I'm planning to get a bunch of people to help as well - once this is done, the fiction lists, by pairing, category etc, will be up and running). Once these two things are done, you would simply keep up with authors and artists, and archive new authors and artists, if you wish.

In brief, you (and any helpers) would be:
+ keeping up to date with new content from archived authors and artists
+ reading and rating this content
+ formatting stories and images
+ managing the chan section
+ managing links that are on the author and artist profiles
+ answering any emails
+ managing the passwords
+ maintaining the links page, and the frequently asked questions page
+ letting everyone know when you update (ie. on the main page, at the yahoo group, and maybe a journal)

That's the majority; there are probably a few other little things that you would need to do every so often.

You need:
+ Macromedia Dreamweaver (can be downloaded). This is a html editor that I use to manage content. You can do html with anything really, notepad, text editors, frontage etc, but as far as I know, Dreamweaver is the best for managing content. (Er, if you are confident that you can manage content without something like Dreamweaver, that's fine, but this is how I've been managing the site for the last several years.)
+ Decent html knowledge, and some idea of php (I can teach you the php basics, if needed)
+ Some experience managing content
+ Be willing to manage helpers, and answer emails
+ It would also be good if you had some understanding of the current quality rating system I use (eg. # and ##)

Even though I said whoever takes it can do what they want with it, I do have 2 requests:
1. That the quality of content is maintained. Therefore fiction needs to be read and rated before being archived.
2. That the basic organisation/navigation is kept the same. I guess this is more of a suggestion than a request; seeing as I've run the site for 4 and a half years, and I've improved things and changed things over time, I believe it's evolved into the easiest way to navigate the content (I have been told lots of times how easy it is to navigate). Plus major changes would be a huge undertaking and probably not worth it.

That's all I can think of right now. Have I scared everyone off yet? heh. If you're interested, reply to this or send me an email at sarvi2(at)glassesreflect.net

:/

Also, a sneak peak at the new James section here. This is still in progress, so if you start exploring you're going to come across lots of broken links! Artwork by the wonderful nebulaean.

Feel free to pimp this post, thanks!

ETA: To all the Harry authors and artists that I archived over the years, thanks so much for everything! I was so proud to archive you all and I found some great friends doing it. ♥
