By "the narrator" you mean the person who's reading the book (or its non-dialogue passages) for the audiobook version? (I've never listened to an audiobook, so I'm not familiar with the terminology.)

He reads everything. (This is not a theatrical audio book production, which employs sound effects and several actors, a la old radio shows.)

I often find myself leaving the room to avoid the BBC news - these days their reporting always feels ghoulish rather than respectful. The pictures in the newspapers were sad enough.

But having seen York Minster rise from the ashes, I'm sure a great many craftsmen/craftswomen will soon be at work, and Notre Dame will be back, beautifully restored, one day.

Hope all goes as well as possible with the family visit.
