So I've been trying to fight off the sense that the world is telling me that I'm a has-been and I should chuck it all, and sink below the waters of mediocrity and indifference, I got a fan letter from someone saying that as an autistic person they recognized themselves in Inda.

I'd read so very much on the subject, and worked so hard to depict someone on the spectrum without using contemporary labels or language, or making the story an issue story, and so this letter meant a lot.

The point of this post is (assuming anyone has read this far!) is that if you are thinking of writing a letter of appreciation to a writer, even a single line, please do it. You never know how much it will mean to them.
