So steepholm has been traveling in Japan, and has been blogging the experience, with pix. Today's entry included a visit to a cat cafe. She finally lured one fine young mog by some tidbits. Other customers had a cat, maybe two ( Read more... )

I've been to cat cafes in Japan (a few, in fact) and Hong Kong. There's already at least one in London, and I think others elsewhere in the UK. The cat cafe I know in London is very in demand so you have to reserve weeks or months in advance (though sometimes they have cancellations and you can luck out).

I like the many-kitty experience, and I especially like being able to cuddle up to breeds like Norwegian forest cats (HUGE kitties!) because we're not sure it'd be fair to keep one in our little flat really.

Oh, that would be so marvelous! I've never seen a Norwegian forest cat. Looking them up as soon as I post this!

We've become somewhat obsessed in this house, to the point of having a name picked if we can somehow manage to have one. They're very handsome cats indeed.

(I first fell in love with them via Haruki, of cat cafe Nekorobi in Tokyo. Pic here: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10152847690760485 and I took a bunch of photos of the other kitties around the same time.)

All Norwegian forest cats seem to have that really handsome nose shape and floofy manes.

(and back I go to staring at UK breeder webpages..)

All of our cats are mutts. (What do you call a mixed breed rescue cat anyway? A moggy, maybe?) But one of them is an exceptionally large mutt. She weighs thirteen or fourteen pounds as compared to the others being ten pounds or less and when she sits next to them she looks oddly unformed and kitten-like. I've decided she's actually part demon. Almost a cat, but not quite right. :D

All my cats growing up were moggies, yeah, though they tended to be eerily small rather than large. I'd love an oversized kitten!

Mutt sounds right to me! And moggy. Wow, that is one big cat. Bigger than any of our dogs!
