I've now been doing yoga two years at
Underground Yoga in Huntington Beach, CA. I started not long after I suffered a stroke.
Doing some pose correction photos, I thought, what the hey, I'd put a couple up, before the painting I did of Lord Ganesh earlier this summer.
The place is non-competitive, welcomes all ages and body types, which is what yoga is supposed to be about, I thought, but in talking about it with others, especially as I traveled last month, I discovered that there are hardcore places where you get shamed for every extra ounce, and you get bullied into poses that hurt. I wouldn't last five minutes in an environment like that, chicken as I am.
I never believed I could do a headstand--even fifty years ago, when I was dancing.
My form still needs improvement, but yoga is a work in progress. At the same time I looked at those and thought, no too bad for an old bat pushing sixty-five!
