Request for Tire Kickers

Book View Cafe is a consortium of writers, as I've mentioned before. The last four months, several people have worked really hard on completely redesigning the book store from scratch. This is what companies pay big bucks for, but since none of us have big bucks, it's all volunteer labor.

If you have the time, we'd appreciate it if you would try Read more... )

I couldn't find a link to comment on the bookstore directly, and other people might wish to discuss this, so here goes ( ... )

List those things at the comment page? (People can pick their own formats, exactly as before.)

This store now has the cloud and the genre categories as well as the authors--what makes the books harder to find now, with more choices to find them?

Excellent! I thought it looked great and was very usable. I bought a book (Wren!) and found that process much easier, too, with the download link right there on the last page of the buying process.

I think the FAQ might clarify whether you can lend your ebooks to friends to upload onto their devices. I'm assuming no, but it's not clearly stated.

I found the first page a bit confusing. Intro text, Ok, I get that, then one book, then a big long waffly bit about a new member, with a book cover image that is then repeated underneath the waffly bit - I'm already thinking 'what is this content, doesn't seem very shoppy'?

Would like to be able to click author name to pull out other work by that writer on the product page.

I expected the cover images to be clickable, for some reason, and they aren't.

I navigated from the shop page to 'Fantasy' category then to a book - I would have liked at the book level to have a breadcrumb trail or a highlight on the category name just as a reminder, particularly as the tags listed are more granular than the category.

Interesting--by granular you mean?

I hope you mentioned that at the Comments site, including the long waffly bits.

Didnt' see the comments site, where is that? Sorry, have not shopped there before, thought it might be helpful to have a new pair of eyes on it.

Granular in this context means 'broken down into little bits'. So, your categories are big chunks like fantasy and your tags are little granules like historical fantasy and magic. I did like the fact that both categories & tags were available and that they were clearly segregated.

This is enormously helpful, thanks! The site is new, and there is a comments section, it's just that I don't think the people actually doing the work read my blog. I want them to see good comments like yours where they can find them!
