This wonderful con, focusing on women in fantasy, is moving its venue to the jaw-droppingly beautiful country along the Columbia River next year, here, October 11-14. Previously it was set in Vail, Colorado, a beautiful site, but very hard to get to, and some had problems with being 9,000 feet above sea level. Apparently easier? Like really. To drive there from the Portland airport, turn left, take the next right, drive for 40 miles along a really beautiful road (most of which goes through a National Scenic Area), and you're there. If they have any sense, they'll have a shuttle bus from the airport too, though I don't see anything about that on the website.

This is worth thinking of in several respects. I'll have to dig out my old BW notes on Pamela Dean's Tam Lin, see if there's a paper in that.

really beautiful*

*straight, not curvy, wide, good highway. And if you really want to, you can take the freeway instead, though I recommend crossing the river first.

In their LJ post, they talk about arranging a shuttle for reduced cost. More will appear about that.

There would be a paper in that--and in fact, there could be a terrific panel on Tam Lin retellings, and I suggest you volunteer if there is such a panel.
