Harry Connolly
posted this link for his upcoming book Circle of Enemies--though the trailer functions as an intro to all his books. It's amazingly professional--you wouldn't know that it had a budget of five grand instead of fifty grand. I also like the faint gleam of humor (unrelenting grim is a turnoff for me, though many viewers and readers disagree).
I think this is probably the best one I've ever seen. The obvious question is, will it sell books? How many of you check out book trailers--and how many have bought a book because of one? I'm curious about how book trailers fit into the rapidly changing landscape of publishing.
Looking back over my own experience, I've mostly looked at book trailers after I've read a book, or thought about it. I've never bought one because of one--it's always someone else's words that prompts me to try one. (Not burbling about brilliance--and certain phrases tend to put me off-- but specificity on what worked for them.)
