Mind

Today msagara has an interesting post about her autistic son, school, and mind development, or Theory of Mind.

This Theory of Mind stuff is so interesting, and I am so glad that teachers are being clued in, whatever other sorry things are being forced onto educators because of politics from above, that have no interest in actual classroom dynamics or what's best for kids.

The only exploration of Theory of Mind that I've done has to do with reading--how it, like imaginative play, is our way of manipulating our awareness. So seeing this description of crucial moments in a kid's life is so fascinating. As a teacher without this knowledge, I so often had to guess by little signs and clues what was going on, because small kids have trouble articulating. (And older kids won't always tell the truth.)
