If you find Ayn Rand's books, writing, and philosophy as repulsive as I do . . .

And are as appalled that someone would waste good money making a movie of that floof when there are so many good ideas around, click this. WARNING: Not worksafe language, and not even remotely fair.

I am with you on this. I find it tragic that at least one of the finest and most talented persons I know thinks otherwise, but Rand is not only repulsive in herself, she is plain bad news as an influence. Book burning may not be strictly laudable, but I think it is at least legitimate to wish that certain books had never been written.

Book burning is at least a protected form of free speech as flag burning.

I was hoping for a killer review of the movie. Oh well.

Maybe that person will weigh in . . . though I suspect they won't be first in line to see that movie.

Here, try this. It's Roger Ebert, and it's pretty damning.

the thing is, movies as an art lend themselves to all kinds of extreme and subversive politics. There have been great Communist movies and great Nazi movies. What Mr.Ebert seems to be saying is that this is simply a bad movie and that we shall have to wait a bit longer for the Great Libertarian Movie. It should be possible - I know one truly brilliant comic-book creator who is a ranting Randite - but frankly I am glad they missed the target this time.

If only. A chance to punch AR would sorely try my pacifist beliefs.

So ironic that she was such a predictable and clichéd writer when she claimed to value artistic creativity. For that reason at least, Fountainhead is even more annoying than Atlas.

I saw the trailer for that movie when I went to see the new Jane Eyre, and it looks... well. Apparently enough people with enough money felt that this deserved a giant production, and yet, that doesn't mean anything for quality. Also, apparently, it's only Part I. I just... who is going to sit through these movies?

Rand followers, I guess. I can't imagine it appealing to anyone else. (But then I've been wrong, oh so many times before!)

Sometimes I think my middle initial is F. for Faux Pas. I'm just saying. Okay, a lot of the time.
