First, I am over the moon to report that the list of presenters for Sirens includes: Holly Black, Marie Brennan, Sarah Rees Brennan, Ellen Kushner, Malinda Lo, Cindy Pon, Delia Sherman, Sherwood Smith, Janni Lee Simner, Mette Ivie Harrison, Samantha Henderson, Rachel Manija Brown, and Terri Windling. I am wrangling Tamora Pierce, too, because I ♥ her, as well as Editor in Chief of Random House Books for Young Readers, Mallory Loehr.
If you do not know these women, I cannot help you am more than happy to tell you about Holly's ruthless faeries, Marie's below-London Onyx court, Sarah's demon-killing brothers, Ellen's re-invented faery stories, Malinda's queer re-telling of Cinderella, Cindy's adventuring heroine, Delia's amazing world-building, Sherwood's kickass characters, Janni's post-apocolytipc world in which faery magic has leeched into nature, Samantha's amazing poetry, Mette's awesome takes on magic and shapechanging, Rachel's brilliant memoir, and Terri's brilliant writing, editing and art. Go ahead,
ask me! Sirens is October 7-10 in Vail, Colorado, and
registration currently costs $180. Don't freak! That includes all keynote presentations, all programming, all events, a dessert reception and three meals. (That does not include the pre-conference Sirens Supper or the airport shuttle.) Come on! You know you want to!
If you can't come, though, but you still want to support our mission of discussing and celebrating women in fantasy literature, we have supporting registrations. For $45, you'll support Sirens this year and for years to come, and we'll send you a souvinir program book from this year's conference.
Also, Sirens is hosting the launch party for Marie Brenna's A Star Shall Fall! And it comes with a drink contest and a costume contest.
Detail are here, but you should know that the drink contest is running now and you don't need to be a Sirens attendee to participate!
