Other Stuff

While at Horse Camp, I had a borrowed mini-computer called an EEE. Nifty in many ways, it was tiny and very hard to control, so I didn't post entries.

A few expressed in interest in Wren Journeymage, Chapter Two, which went up on Thursday.

Today, Kids and a sense of history.

The eee's keyboard is unpleasant and the physical balance is poor. Don't let it put you off minis. I adore my HP mininote.

Beggars can't be choosers! That's all that is available to borrow.

Just didn't want you to think it was the nature of the beast.

No, I've seen some very nifty machines in the wild, but yet another 600 bucks dropped on my daughters aged crapmobile yesterday pushes me getting such a thing farther and farther back.

Sympathies. We're pretty much in the same situation too. Trying to keep old vehicles on the road can really eat you out of house and home, and put you in a Catch-22 position where you can't afford to replace them because the repairs have put you so far in the hole, but you can't afford to be without a vehicle because there's no other way to get to the places where you have to go, whether it's to actually get something, or whether you're just required to render your physical presence. It's only possible for us to finally give up on our old vehicle instead of pouring yet another huge chunk of money into it in hopes of stretching it a little further because I run a business rather than having a regular job, so with some planning ahead and some inconvenience we can just barely manage to juggle one vehicle between two people. But it's going to take a lot of good communication and planning ahead. We can no longer afford to be caught by surprise when stuff runs out and has to be replenished.

Depends on the EEE. The early ones were pretty sucktastic. Mine is my only computer, and it shows that I like to type...

The letters are already wearing off on my new computer, which I've had about two weeks.

The letters are all still present... but after only a year, the keys are gradually reshaping themselves to my fingers. J and F still have their anchoring bumps, but only just. And the plastic on them has gone from gently textured to slick as glass.

I also like my EEE (known as Junior, the Shetland laptop) very much, but my brother borrowed Junior for a week once and kind of hated him.

Welcome back, I hope horse camp was wonderful!
