Bittercon Live: Informal Poll

Jun 01, 2008 08:50

I've been talking to a couple of people (including individuals not on this continent) about the possibility of organizing an on-line con. What with the hike in gas prices, and how that is going to effect everything else, some of us who have trouble traveling now are not going to get out of town at all for the forseeable ( Read more... )

Oh wow. When I think of all the stuff you are expert at, my mouth waters. Okay, there will be discussion plenty ahead, if this thing actually looks like happening.

Provided it's not the last weekend of January (when I'll be physically at another con), I'd be interested.

That's exactly why the thought was mid-Jan. Great!)

I WOULD BE VERY INTERESTED in "attending"/helping out. Mid-January is a great time because classes have only just started and few professors would be crazy enough to assign papers by then. Of course, for the weeks leading up to it I'll be out of the U.S., but it's the web, so that doesn't matter as much.

Anyway, after reading all my friends' posts about Wiscon and being INCREDIBLY JEALOUS because there are no cons in the southeast US, this idea has me really excited. :-)

I think this is a brilliant idea - way back in the day, on AOL we actually held some online gaming conventions. We used chat rooms to run games, hold trivia contests and such.

Also - there are a lot of free chat rooms available out there, so keep that in mind.

I'm interested in both participating and helping out too. I also know my way around IRC quite well, so if you need volunteers for that - I'm your girl.

January is a good time for me, provided it's not the last week of Jan as well. That way it hits my winter break.

Also, IRC doesn't cost anything! At least, I've never had to pay to set up my own channel. It depends on if you want your own server, but I can try to get in touch with some IRCops to ask about that.

Excellent! Yeah, your tech knowledge would be a great asset. Nope, mid-Jan, picked to avoid the big con at the end of the month back east, and people getting the second semester hard-launched.)
