What's love got to do with it?

So, in effort to keep some semblance of sanity (really, I don't know why I bother), I've been imbibing a daily tonic of  House M.D. back episodes to counter-balance the stress of working mucho extra hours the past two weeks.

As I picked up the box-set the other day, to slide out  the next precious DVD installment, I noticed something I had not noticed before about the main characters. It was glaringly apparent, so to speak, looking at the photo taken from the perspective of an operating-table-eye's-view of the entire main cast. All but two characters had blue eyes. What are the chances of that? Only Foreman and Wilson were the odd men out. It seemed a little curious, given that brown eyes are a dominant trait. Not that T.V. must follow real-life statistics... but I was curious, so I went looking. Perhaps there are a greater number of blue-eyed people receiving higher education or something? I was having trouble finding the type of information I was looking for, but I found a few more oddities instead.

This, for instance, I found particularly absurd and creepy. Beware! consumer eugenics at play:

Poor red-headed Danes. Apparently your genes are undesired, according to the free market. Perhaps the Vikings have found a new route to world domination. ;-)

And then this was a bit old news, but also amusing:
http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2006/10/061023193617.htm

"the human eye color reflects a simple, predictable and reliable genetic pattern of inheritance.  Their studies1, published in the Springer journal Behavioral Ecology and Sociobiology, show that blue-eyed men find blue-eyed women more attractive than brown-eyed women.  According to the researchers, it is because there could be an unconscious male adaptation for the detection of paternity, based on eye color."

Now, of course my mind is trying to spin this into some sort of a pregnant Cuddy paternity plot line... I know, I know, easy access to equipment would make DNA testing easier, but what if Cuddy wouldn't allow it? And there was only a mysterious blue-eyed baby to wonder at? And to watch and see if those peepers stay blue?

A bit sad that I'm investing so much mental effort in something based off a T.V. show. My defense is that is has been the highlight of my week so far.... and at least I'm putting for some sort of mental effort toward personal amusement. Too much work makes Jane a dull girl.
