Mr Finch is surprised to see Mr Reece at work so early. He hasn't even called him in with a case yet. Also, he is sitting in Finch's chair.
"Happy birthday. Take the day off"
Mr Reece apparently plays boardgames in a park on his day off
Opening his birthday gift
Then stares broodingly out the window of his tiny apartment
Mr Finch hasn't called about a case.
Also, possibly sad because he has no one else who calls him on his birthday? IDK.
*much angsty plot later, related to Reece's tragic past, and Finch attempting to handle a case without him and Reece saving him, because, of course, he was stalking Finch*
Most of their deep and meaningful conversations take place on this bench, usually while staring into the distance
Finch explains that he tried to keep Reece away from the latest case to save him emotional pain
Reece says firmly that he hopes Finch understands now that he shouldn't have.
