Apparently it *isn't* Yuletide unless there's flailing and curling up in a ball whimpering.
So my epic Yuletide fic went through yet another rewrite last night and is now another 1500 words longer, but officially FINISHED, except for all the editing, and the uploading and for the first time I'm having to consider uploading in CHAPTERS. I don't even know the protocol for this - what kind of lengths are chapters supposed to be, anyway????
I was actually enjoying the novelty of cruising along, and wasn't going to bother trying to get an official pinch hit - I figured I'd just maybe write a 1000 words in a 3rd fandom for my recipient, or maybe just write an unofficial extra one for someone, but then just before I went to bed last night the YULETIDE PINCH LIST FELL OVER due to Yahoo, in its infinite wisdom, kicking the Mod off of her own list.
I accidentally woke up at 5am this morning and noticed they'd set up a new list so I signed up for that and settled down for a couple more hours sleep and closed my eyes and then heard my computer announce new mail, because I'd accidentally (really!) left the volume up and looked and there was eleventy billion pinch hits and I just had a look and the second one was a fandom I'd volunteered to write in, and I hesitated, and I hesitated some more and I hesitated AGAIN, and then I thought, so many pinch hits, so fewer pinch hitters, so little time...and I hit reply.
Long story short. *FLAIL* I have have 27 hours to write another fic.
Going to work now. I am SO GLAD that I have tomorrow off.
