It's Saturday, yay!

Today, me and the boyo did errands...we got up at 8:30 and were totally done by noon. We rule! The cats had ripped our cat tree asunder so Eric decided that he would refurbish it with carpet he got from the maintenance guy (roger for those of you in Davisland), so we got a box cutter (re: sharp blade) and staple gun from ace and he went right at it.

I closed my bank account at wells fargo today so now officially all my money is in one basket so to speak. I've had that account since I was 7, so over 2/3 of my life, woah!

Work is going well. I'm busy which is excellent because I get bored like woah if I don't have stuff to do. I've been learning lots about student advising so I think there may be opportunities there in the future *fingers crossed* we'll see how it goes. I think I have a leg up once being at student at this skool ;)

I have abut 19 more squares to go on my giganto afghan I'm working on for me and Eric. Hopefully it'll be done by xmas so we can enjoy it for the chilly season.

It's already starting the rainy season here with the seasons changing and everything, I've been looking forward to it like crazy. Summer was great and dry but too hot and too long. It'll be nice to have a change for a while but I'm sure I'll sing a different tune come Feb and it's been raining for months already ;) Hope none of the levees take a crap on themselves this year *crosses fingers*

On an interesting note, a work, we have guest speakers come to the geology dept each week to give 1 hour lectures. This weeks was a guy from UC Berkeley, Walter Alvarez. Now this didn't mean anything to me either until I asked one of our grad students and she gave me the scoop. This was the guy that figured out why the Dinosaurs went extinct and where the impact site was! Pretty cool if you ask me. This guy was nerdy too, it was perfect ;) But quite a celeb for the geology faculty i must say, people were getting autographs and everything. Craziness!

So there it is, the crazy life at the Geology department :)

Much love to everyone!
