Olympia

Ghosted the hard drive, put it back in the laptop, now it's working. Huh. probably a connection issue, but I double-checked the connection and it was still giving me the error of the day. Anyway, the thing is three years old, and gets 16 hours of use a day almost every day, so it is time to replace it as its getting unreliable. Ideally I'd get another laptop, as almost all the peripherals are dead on this one; but that's not in the budget.

Thursday we met Mom, Joel, Ranger Ted and Dr. G for dinner, then parked out at Joel's.

Yesterday was fun, Mike & I hung out with Mom & Brinda the dog and explored the northeastern depths of rural Olympia, memory lane for Mom. Hit the farmer's market and wandered downtown for a bit. Good times at Boston Harbor Marina. Super low tide, the first dock and boats were lying on the ground. Brinda jumped off the dock and sank to her tummy in mud, then couldn't get back up. Mom eventually yanked her up by the collar and hosed her off. I caught a kelp crab and let it go on the dock. The dog was curious but wouldn't come closer than a foot or two. "Giant Spider!" Mike yelled.
Drama unfolded in the shallow water below as dungeness crabs ate on the tentacles of a big orange jellyfish, using a sun star as a dining area. Little fish circled. So much life out there.

Met up with Uncle Ted & Pam for dinner, talked about property and such. Mike & I are seriously thinking about just getting a spot, and are wodering what the restrictions are on 'recreational land'. It's a ways off, as I want to pay for it without taking out a loan/mortgage, whatevah.

Stopped by Chief's for a couple hours, watched Road Warrior, which Mike has memorized. Mike & Albert got into a chest beating conversation at how awesome they were at their various jobs. Then on to the 24 hour Kinkos so I could sort out some IRS crap. The annoying part is I'd have to do this even if I hadn't fired the POS lawyers. WTF WAS I paying them for? Considering I'm representing myself at this point, I hope to find out it was wasted money.

Back out at little brother's, Mom came by this morning to say goodbye, she & Dr. G had to take off early due to an emergency back in Pullman. We're heading over to Chief's for a bit, then probably back to Port Orchard.

Big thanks to Joel for letting us park at his place and hog his bandwidth.

mom, olympia
