Old age is not so bad when you consider the alternatives.

Mike's machine is down, so we're 'sharing.' Time to fix my old machine, methinks, this is going to drive me NUTS. I've got plenty to do and so does he.

Friday we took off because the tanks needed emptying and I didn't want the beastie in the yard while the inspector was there, though it's footprint is fairly obvious.

We stopped at Dancing Goats for coffee, I've got my back to the door and am mid-sentance with Mike and he suddenly bolts out of the place.
I turn around to see him cradling an old lady who'd fallen over, her walker seemed to have veered off in the worng direction or something, Mike had seen her go down, so he's got the complete version of the story. She was OK from what I could tell, but knocked the side of her head pretty hard, and the resulting scratches were bleeding as head wounds do, it looked worse than it was, but I don't think the lady knew she was bleeding.

The girl at the beauty salon next door knew her and called 911 despite the woman telling her otherwise. We all helped her inside. Salon girl put a towel over the wound and the lady's eyes while she was trying to walk in(faceplam). Mike had his arms around her, and I held her hand while everyone walked her into the salon and sat her down. She assured everyone she was fine, and the salon girls dismissed us. We returned to our coffee. Mike was pretty shaken, poor sweetheart. I would've seriously damaged someone if they'd called 911 on me over an injury like that; but I can't blame the girls for not wanting to take their chances with the health of old ladies.

In case anyone ever doubted what kind of guy Mike is, I think he was on his feet before she hit the ground.

Mike dropped me off at the house and retreated with the Beastie to Shari's. Inspector Lady showed up, I gave her a tour, she looked displeased, did a bunch of paperwork and left. Hermmmm. I hope this goes well for the landlady. Mike returned with our home.

We went to Chief's that night and ended up staying there WAY longer than I'd intended to, as Mike fell asleep on my lap. We were on each others nerves already due to various not fun reasons of insomnia, and getting Mike home at 5:30 AM after having him prisoner in an "Allergen filled house"... he's not going to forgive me anytime soon.

The next day Mike found his machine not working and stayed home to fix it while I went on a mission to help Cheif pick out some electronics of his own. I think that was almost as bad as staying at home knee deep in computer parts, but at least I got a coffee out of the deal.

Today Joel woke me up via phone to tell me I had to rake the roof off. Whuh? how urgent is this?
Yeah, OK, as soon as it stops raining. I think the roomates should make whoever's got health insurance go up there...Uh, that would be Mike. Unlike us yanks, Brits get fixed up for FREE. I'll probably end up doing it, but I could probably use the excitement.

We rushed up to Fry's electronics only to find they didn't have the motherboard Mike needed, so we'll check 4th Dimension tomorrow and if they don't have it(and I'm not optimistic) he'll have to order one online.

Tomorrow...I despair of getting any work done. We've gotta take the beastie in, there's a leak in the brake line somewhere. It'd be nice to get some other stuff done, too but I'm not holding my breath.

Why oh WHY do I bother with an agenda?

weekend, heroics, computer
