Professionalism
They were gone. Long gone.

And they had taken his partner with them. Alive. He must be alive. What use did Thrush have for the body of Napoleon Solo?

But there were no clues in the chateau. No indication of where they were headed.

If he were in a better mood, he would’ve admired their professionalism.

But not today. Sighing, he sank into the armchair to gather his thoughts.

A flash of light caught his eye. There, in the fireplace amongst scattered ashes, a dirty piece of metal.

An address. Faint, but visible.

He smiled. Not so professional, after all.

Part of Him
He grew up with it; it saw him grow up from child to man.

He thrived in it, even as it enjoyed testing the limits of his endurance.

He belonged to it; it was an irrefutable part of his being.

His heart beat faster when face to face with it, because of what it reminded him of. Home. Starvation. Family. War.

But there were those times when he despised it for what it denied to him. Warmth. Comfort. Love. Compassion.

So tonight he was glad to be safely enveloped in his partner’s arms while the blizzard vented its fury outside.

Hands
They were not the first part of his partner’s body to catch Napoleon’s attention.

It had been the hair, that glorious flop of golden hair that glimmered in the autumn sun.

Then it was the eyes. He had never seen anything so beautiful and dangerous, like the glaciers of Scandinavia.

But it was only after they became lovers that Napoleon discovered the beauty of Illya’s hands; large, elegant hands that loved Napoleon every night.

So it was quite a shame, really, that April gave Illya a pair of mittens for Christmas.

He only hoped his partner had a terrible memory.
