Today has been so difficult and in some ways horrible, and I'm just now (10:30 at night) catching up on my friends-list, and this totally knocked me for a loop. My God! You are good. I agree with gunxshyed -- the watercolor in particular is reminiscent of Schiele, the gorgeous blend of colors, the way their nakedness is both grotesque and vulnerable, Snape with his unwelcoming, near-skeletal body and Harry almost slouching, the tentative curve of his hips and the faraway look in his eyes.

This is wonderful and intense and good Lord, unsentimental. I love the dark circles around Snape's eyes, his uncompromising glare, his bloody hand gripping the perfect rose, the flames rising from Harry's wand on the same side as his burnt arm, the fact that Harry's expression is both child-like and weary beyond his years. I love the firelight tinting their bodies, the wash of bruise-purple, their limp, eye-catching pricks. And I adore how red you made Snape's nipples! (I gather you liked that scene, eh?)

I'm also glad you included the pencil drawing, because the lines themselves are so clean and beautiful and their expressions are just different enough to subtly change the emotional impact. What a disturbing and mesmerizing double portrait. Thank you for giving me something so amazing. I'd love to see more of your art -- perhaps you'd consider illustrating the fic you're working on (and yes, in case you were wondering, that is a nudge).

Oh my god! I'm so happy that you completely got everything that this painting/drawing was trying to achieve! That really makes my day! I wanted do something unflinchingly unsetimental, I wanted to capture the way you write, which is completely how I see them :D. And I wanted to make them very different from each other, but still beautiful somehow. It was so hard to get their expressions right as I was trying to get in so much - resignation, stoicsm, exhaustion, strength, vulnerability - and I am chuffed to bits that you could see all that in there <3.

I have done quite a few other drawings, but they are more doodley. Funny enough, I was thinking about doing some illustrations for my fic. I don't know though, weirdly enough I find it harder to translate my own writing into striking imagery. Maybe I will just keep doing yours?

So happy that you liked this!
