The other day, I decided I was going to rescue my old unfinished fic from the Scrivener file it's in. I haven't actually done that yet, partly because I got distracted by how good one of them was, but mostly because I don't know what to do with them beyond putting them in a file I still have the proper software to access.
My main interest is rescuing the Sue Ellen/Ann fic. Small fandom, smaller ship, great value to someone! But where do I put it and how do I present it?
I don't really write chaptered fic, but I suppose I could post it on AO3 and just lie about it being 1/? in order to make sure it's clearly marked as incomplete in addition to using the "Abandoned Work - Unfinished and Discontinued" tag.
It looks like about half the works in that tag are single-chapter works marked complete, but that just seems like a good way to annoy readers, while the 1/? approach seems like a good way to get readers annoying you with requests for the next chapter.
Obviously, the important thing is to get the fic out of the file now. Once I do that, I can take my sweet time figuring out what I actually want to do with it. Not knowing what I'll do with them does interfere with my motivation to do the rescuing, though.
