On .html and .txt story files.

I do a lot of my fic reading on the move, so I'm pretty happy whenever an author goes the extra mile of making it easy for me to download their fic. I upload two versions of all my fics: one stripped .html document and one basic .txt document.

The .html files are not generated by Word, they are written and coded by me, and as such should work on any browser without problems. Fic is formatted the same way in those files as it is in the story.

Formatting in the .txt files is a little trickier. I ended up going with a double colon to denote emphasis on words:

I didn't even ::know:: that she was in the ::country::!

To denote long phrases or segments that are in italics in the story - flashbacks, the other end of a phone conversation and the like, I use a double tilde (~) symbol:

~~The sun felt good on his skin and the sound of the ocean was soothing. His partner was laying facedown on the beach, all long lines of golden skin and...~~

"Joe? Joe, are you listening to me?"

Any questions, or if the files don't work, please let me know!
