Gilmore nostalgia

Feb 02, 2011 12:09

I don't know why but I've been having it lately. Am I the only one who just kinda wishes the show was still on sometimes? Or that...I dunno, you could go back in time for a day and relive some of the crazy fan hype? (Maybe not though. Maybe that part is best left to nostalgia?) Sometimes I want to go back and read some good fics, but...horribly...I don't remember any of the good authors. Any suggestions for a rainy day (or, more accurately, a slow day at work [which isn't happening lately])? I've read the virtual seasons, and like them, but am more thinking about stuff written while the show was running. Hrmm...

This all could have to do with the crazy weather that my peeps in Chicago got this week. Chicago = height of Gilmore obsession = nostalgia.  Those were the days, man. The days of having NOTHING to do at work all day and discovering TWoP and Pamie and watching GG like, every day all day (thanks to burnt DVDs) and also, BEFORE YOUTUBE. Which is crazy to think about. So I had these sites where I would go and download interviews of the cast or clips or whatever. Crazy, man.

Onto regular life thoughts: I did end up making a belated list of resolutions, but am not sure if I want to post them here or not. Some of them are pretty personal -- or so ridiculous (in that it is something I should just be doing) that I'd be embarrassed to share. But maybe...if you all promise not to judge.

One of them is to write in here and in my other blog more often. Check and check, for today.

Speaking of nostalgia, I found three old CDs from back in the day this weekend and have been enjoying the heck out of them: Cake's Fashion Nugget, Moby's Play and Pear Jam's live album, Live on Two Legs. It's 1997 in my world, y'all. And also 2005. And 2011. All at once! Welcome to my mind. I wrote about this on my other blog today and posed this question: Cake's "I Will Survive": Great cover or Greatest cover? Remember this awesomeness?

Fucking a, man. I say greatest.
