Hi everyone....well I've had quite the weekend. Sat I slept in (yahoo for weekends), then went shopping in Saranac Lake, and Lake Placid for mom's bday gift. Then for a small drive to the ADK Loj, I've never been there. I also visited the mt. hovenburgh bobsled track, and the ski jumps. ( I can't even imagine flying off those ski jumps at mach 3) I did some off roading, which was fun I love mud season. I ended the day with what should have been a short hike up Panther MT. I was almost to the top and couldn't breath ( yes first asthma attack in 5 yrs) so I came back down before I passed out ( I was alone, no cell phone, and no water). I got lost coming down, but managed to find the highway got to it and walked back to my car. I was surprised no trail ledger, and the trail was poorly marked. Went home made dinner and watched Spanglish (again) and shall we dance.
Slept in today (sunday), then was online and a friend (Ashton) I talked to last fall imed me. We got to talking and decided to go for a day hike to John's pond...in Indian Lake. I got there....made sure I had plenty of water and took the camera and a trail bar with me. Went up the trail which was a easy walk, wide trail. Visited "Little Canada" and the two graves there. Then walked to John's pond...which had a nice lean to and an outhouse....I was ratherly surprised the outhouse was so nice. I'm either use to no outhouse, or a crappy one like the one at hunting camp. Any who...took some pics, caught my breath and decided to follow Ash into the woods on one of his "unmarked trails". We walked an easy pace... he was nice and stopped when I needed to. Made our way up the ridge over looking the pond, took some pics of the pond and chimney mt. He asked if I wanted to check out the cave "over there" for Bears.....and with my experience with bears (will explain another time) I said "I'll wait here with black dog and you can check that out alone" LOL. Yes Ash's dog...black dog (mickey) went hiking too....I love dogs for the reason they can go hiking. This dog however....is about 10, and I swear on crack. The dog was so full of energy....she was up down all over. The afternoon went on...with breaks and good conversation....went over the ridge to Clear Pond. At one point I slid down the mt on my ass....I figured I was already wet and dirty.....and the cool wetness felt good cooling my body down. We were "bush whacking" around the beavers playground when I lost sight of Ash and was like "where are you?" ...I here this "over here" at which point I suggest maybe next time he wear a more "helpful" color. He was in a black tee shit and green pants, I suggested maybe a grey, white, red even.....something so I could see him from a distance. (his leisurely stroll is a jog for me.....I made him wait for me from time to time to catch up. We got to the trail into Clear pond, took some more pics then followed the trail out. The hike took about 4.5 hrs....it was a good time. I was covered in mud from head to toe...yeah me. (not your typical girl....I'm from the country damn it) We had lots of laughs....I had lots of laughs figuring out how to write this...I told Ash a few times I'd put today in my live journal, and kind of laughed at myself. Good times had by both...I was complimented later that evening....he was quite surprised I followed him off the beaten path....what can I say I'm adventurous and up for just about anything. Another trip is being planned....and I'm sure more laughs with that one too. Keep tuned in, till next time....good night. ( I feel so good...I accomplished something great today, and met a new person who I can go hiking with...YES!!!)
