It actually wasn't a bad weekend. The kids were great and they actually thought I was cool :D
I usually teach whenever I'm free and the opportunity rises. I've done school tours in Utah, Nevada and Arizona and taught Shakespeare's text, stage fighting and improv. That was a 4 month gig where we went to schools, preformed Romeo and Juliet and taught after. We went to youth correctional facilities, school for the deaf, polygamist communities and just regular high schools. That was fun/exhausting.
I've taught at First Stage children's theatre for several years. Taught Shakespeare and voice and musical theater (choreography). I taught grades 4-12. That was very hard. Long days, dealing with many kids with ADD/ADHD. Hard. Hard. Hard.
I've been teaching at this summer camp for the past 2 years. It's free to high school kids. They audition to get in. In a month they write a show, music, lyrics and stage it,and then we tour it for a week around senior centers and boys and girls clubs. These kids aren't necessarily wanting to be actors, but we're teaching then to be better human beings.
Haha, I've done a lot, but teaching really isn't my thing. I've very little patience and don't really know how to relate with kids most of the time. I usually say yes to teaching gigs because it's money and I learn something about myself every time i do it.
