Something's been bothering me of late. A couple weeks ago I read an article or blog (honestly I can't remember where) that challenged me to name the other terrorist attack on U.S. soil since 9/11. I failed and couldn't remember. I've since found out, but the simple fact that I couldn't remember has stuck with me as well as the troubling fact that no one talks about it any more (which made it so much easier to slip my mind). Equally disturbing is the fact pretty much none of my students could remember either when I brought it up to them during class discussion. I've been mulling it over since and just feel like if nothing else we shouldn't sweep it under the rug of history so quickly. Also, when political commentators start declaring how there have been no attacks since 9/11 and it's all due to such and such actions by the government it strikes me as dangerously disingenuous. Hence I issue the challenge to you. Do you remember? No fair looking it up.
[edit]-Since I don't want to just leave it hanging I figured I'd give the answer. Because Wikipedia knows all I give the answer in a
link.
