Um...wow...this chapter is shocking and heartbreaking and...just read everyone and then come back here to comment.

I'm going to see if I can explain my thought process on Zero here for a moment. I think it's a little more than just 'wanting to kill all purebloods so there is never another Ex-human ever again.'
Zero was USED. OVER and OVER and OVER by SO many people in his life. In the end he has been left with nothing...so naturally his future doesn't particularly mean crap to him. As he voiced in this chapter, he's just tired of it all. The lies, the manipulations, being forced into corners to do things to protect himself. Rido, Shizuka, The Vampire Hunter Association, Kaname, Headmaster Kurosu, even Ichiru. Each of them found a way to manipulate him against his will in one way or another. I think the only ones that have not used him are Yuuki and Yagari.
So...if she's never used him, why would he feel he HAS to kill Yuuki? Other than that she's a pureblood, does he have good reason?
Actually...yes he does. He has a couple of them. By no means do I condone this, but...his reasons are there.
Zero trusts no one since that fateful day four years ago. Of anyone, Yuuki has gotten closest, but even after everything he NEVER quite let her in all the way. Chapter 24 and the near kiss can pretty much prove this point. He didn't trust her with his feelings because in the four years he's known her, her feelings rested with another. She is now 'together' with this person.
"I'm on your side" is pretty much null and void if he's wanting to go kill Kaname isn't it? And he IS...to Zero, Kaname is as much to blame for his current life as Shizuka. Kaname believes that Yuuki is the one person that Zero won't harm, but...she's now a pureblood vampire and will attempt to stand in the way between Zero and one of his targets.
Though he DOES love her, Zero knows no matter what he won't ever be able to be with her.
Kaname and Zero do have the same weakness, Yuuki. Zero knows that Yuuki is Kaname's weakness...that everything he's done was in an effort to protect HER. Zero isn't planning on living at the end of all of this...but he DOES have goals he needs to achieve before his life is over. Though Yuuki's never used him, she's been used AGAINST him from the very beginning. Kaname and the Headmaster Placing them together, so they’d attach and he’d eventually drink from her...so when she DID get turned back he’d have pureblood in him. I’m sure the headmaster thought sticking a Pureblooded Human and a Vampire Hunter that was a Vampire would help his own long term goals. Shizuka used Yuuki to get to Zero, promising to turn her into a vampire.
Sadly, in order to be successful...he needs to remove Yuuki before she attempts to protect Kaname as that will make it much harder on him--making it two purebloods he's fighting at once as well as making her make that choice will be hard enough on her anyway. It will be easier for him to kill Kaname if he's already removed Kaname's reason for living and something that is a his own weakness...who won’t be his ally in this situation and can be used against him. She’s no longer human and has the capability to take him out, if she truly needs to fight with Kaname.
In other words, she’s a threat to his current goals and has to be removed.
Let’s hope Yagari and Headmaster Kurosu are nearby...

In NICER thoughts, anyone know why Yuuki isn’t ready to die yet? She has goals she needs to achieve! (The brainwashing of Kaien Kurosu worked perfectly on ONE of his wards!)
