Megatokyo
The first webcomic I learned about was Freefall. I still read it, too. Funny, light on real plot, gag a day style... It set the tone for many of the comics I first found. A series of events led me to One called "Something Positive." "Something Positive" is... well. It's just plain wrong. If it is something truly horrific, awful, and disgusting, Mullholand will find a way to make it funny. You'll feel guilty as sin for it! But you'll laugh. (That or file an injunction.) ANYWAY, one day, Something Positive made a snarky joke in which one character is wrapped in a scarf, and has a tear in his eye as gentle snow flakes fall. Another tells him "If you don't stop that, I'll stop reading MegaTokyo to you." I didn't get the joke, so I looked up MegaTokyo to figure it out. ("Sad girls in snow, Piro! Go to your happy place!")
I've been reading ever since.
military
Almost a decade of my life. A lot of memories. Some good, some bad. But for ten years, I was doing something I knew was important, and which gave me meaning.
I don't regret it.
ero oji-san
SNRK. Okay, one day there was a post on the MegaTokyo forums in which someone put up some Miho fanart. Unfortunately something was wrong with it, the artist knew it, the forumites knew it, but no one could quite put their thumb on it. Finally, I told them I knew what it was. The angle from which we could view the picture, and the clothing worn combined such that you should have gotten a complete and total look up Miho's skirt that left NOTHING to the imagination. Everyone said "Oh! You're right!"
Then they turned around and asked what I was doing looking up the skirt of a possibly underage girl.
And thus Ero Oji-san was born. It was actually kind of fun to joke around about it, but it got old after a time.
Setsuna
Cute, gentle, sweet, kind, and devoted, and yet at the same time, badass lolita with wings and the determination to do what must be done? What's not to love?
CAT EARS
I love cats. When I learned about kitty ears hats (thanks to MegaTokyo, again) I, as a joke, drew an avatar of myself wearing such a hat, both as a joke about my love of cats, my enjoyment of Anime and Manga, and as a way to show just how little I take myself seriously.
Just the other day, my sister actually sent me a grey kitty ears hat. So yes, I actually do have that hat.
