See Jax graduate. See Jax apply for Georgia jobs. See jobs be silent. See Jax apply for Gulf Coast job. See Gulf Coast job call Jax. See Jax interview. See Jax GET Gulf Coast job. See Jax move to florida at end of July. See Jax smile. See Jax cry. See Jax smile. See Jax cry. See Jax dance.

Yep. I went down for a Thursday interview at Gulf Coast Youth Services, a state funded program that helps adolescents who have behavioral issues and who have been arrested for minor offenses but have been court ordered to go through counseling while in a residence facility.

I loved the feel of the place (even with it's barbedwire fence and concentration camp style buildings). The people for the most part were very friendly, and my boss was the guy who interviewed me. So many things happened that just made this clear to me to be the right move for me.

First, they offer FREE supervision for licensure and FREE training in REBT, 7 Challenges for Substance Abuse, PAR, and other techniques/models. Second, Florida licensure takes only TWO years to complete.

After the interview that last over an hour and went wonderful, I was told that I should have brought my social security card with me. *doh! No idea where that rascal is since I got my library job 8 years ago...oops! So, I asked if they knew of a social security office in the area where I could file for a replacement card. AND, there was one just two lights down! I waited about an hour for the verification letter at the SS office and headed back to the interview site to turn in my app.

Once back, the lady told me that I had to get fingerprinted but that the only one who could do that had left already for the weekend and that the app could not be processed without fingerprints... *DOH!* Just as I was about to leave, a lady came in and turned out to be THE ONE who does fingerprints...she had forgotten something in her office and had returned RIGHT when I was there. So, got the app completed and submitted.

The interview guy told me that he would call of the applicants back on Monday after lunch to let us know if we would get the job offer or not.

On friday, my parents and I were driving back to GA when HE called and offered me the job. He said that he knew he wanted to offer it to me after our interview on Thursday and wanted to give me the weekend to think of a start date. I said "thank you" and that I would talk with him on Monday.

It would be a 40 hr/wk job where I would have a case load of only 10 clients. I would lead 2 groups each day and do 1 individual counseling session. The rest of the day would be for paperwork and preparation. I can set my own hours as long as I log 40 hours. The pay is not fantastic, but it's a start in my field and I can always get a 10 hr/ PT job somewhere, i'm sure.

The location would be in Crestview, 40 minutes from the beach...yay! I'm in the process of looking for housing in Crestview or Valparaiso.

IF ANYONE KNOWS OF FRIENDS IN THIS AREA PLEASE LET ME KNOW!!! I will have to start over with social connections and the likes, but at least I will have Riley with me.

I'm seeing this as an opportunity for paid training like going away to school for 2 years. I'm excited and scared but more excited right now than scared.

I still plan on going to Otakon mid-July but don't know when I'll be moving for REAL. So, when I'm settled, make road trips to come see me! ^_^
