Wow weather permitting, I'm never using that phrase again. The weather and circumstances have not been permitting. Tomorrow I will be going, to make use of the Wilson Library.
I decided to look at the codes of conduct, etiquette, duties and social rules, mainly in the Georgian, Regency, Victorian and Edwardian ages. There are two books specifically I'm looking for.
1} The whole duty of a woman, or the infallible guide to the fair sex: containing rules, direction, and observations, for their conduct and behavior through all ages and circumstances of life as virgins, wives, or widows: with directions, how to obtain all useful and fashionable accomplishments, suitable to the sex, in which are comprised all parts of good housewivry, particularly rules and receipts in every kind of cookery...... (believe it or not the title is actually longer) 1737.
2} The polite academy, or school of behavior for young gentleman and ladies. intended as a foundation for good manners and polite addresses, in masters and misses. 1762
I guess I will also have to locate a fair bit of information on Luxury ocean steam liners.
Very excited. I outlined the chapter (s) covering christmas while waiting for parents outside of their church this morning, effective use of time.
