Thank you, computer Gods...
Wow! I have an extra hour! I have Windows 2000 on my laptop and I never bothered to download the patch that changes daylight savings to three weeks earlier. I could have changed the time manually, but I knew it would change automatically in 3 weeks...so I've just been adding an hour to the time on my computer, but it finally changed today and I just realized it!
I've been worried all week because I couldn't get my computer to recognize my thumb drive. My thumb drive is a few years old...but all 512 MB on it were full! I would have mourned the loss of my novel and some other stuff, but life would have gone on (my novel is a piece of crap!) But my genealogy is on there! The full geneaology with like 1600+ names on it. Luckily, I had it backed up on this computer, but it was missing some stuff that I knew I had found later. Important stuff .Like my great great great grandfather's first name, which took years of searching and detective work to find.
So, I've been talking to it, lovingly placing it in the USB port, even shoving it to no avail. My last resort was to have Scott try it in his computer. It worked! He has my files on his computer and I bought a 4 gig (I can't believe they're that big now!) replacement
I'm relived...oh, and conference was good too
