Chevelle is good, my cell phone is bad.

Okay, I promised some people a concert journal update as soon as possible, and I don't want to disappoint, however, I'm not in the best of moods right now. In fact, I am pissed right now, and I feel like screaming really really loud. I open up my phone about a half hour ago to call someone, and the display of my phone is all distorted, like the colors exploded, so basically there is a orange circle in the middle of my phone display with blue all around it, with the faint touches of my actual phone display in the background. Bottom line? I cannot see anything on my phone. Why is this a problem? Well, because apparently my phone wasn't insured, and I have an AT&T phone, which was just bought over by Cingular, so I can't get a new phone just like that. I have to either file for insurance and wait 30 days before I can actually get my new phone, orrrr, buy a phone, like the one I have, on EBAY or something, and these are the only alternatives the guy at the Cingular store gave me. The only positives are that I can still use the phone, though I have to dial every number with precision and I can talk, and I can also know who is calling me, because the outer display still works fine. So I can still use the phone, but I can't text, or use my phone with ease, and everything is just going to be a lot harder. Need I remind everyone that I thoroughly enjoy texting?? DAMMIT!! I've come to the conclusion that I'm going to have to file for the insurance, wait it out with a crappy ass phone, and then get a new phone, because I don't want to buy one from EBAY. I am very proud of myself however, because just a week ago, I decided to write down all of the numbers in my phone in case I lost it or it broke, and sure enough, a week later, I have all the numbers still, so if I really need to call someone, I have their number, so kudos to me for that one. This still sucks though!! But whatever, I'll have to deal with that tomorrow and then just wait it out. Okay, enough about that problem, let's go to a positive, which was the Chevelle and Dark New Day concert at Mulcahy's last night, and I must say, I really enjoyed myself.
Going to the show last night was some of the Hollywood gang, including myself, Sal, Gary, Michele, Kamila and Carissa, and we got there early and waited around. Going into the show, I was kind of worried about the girls not enjoying themselves, although I know that Kamila has been to a My Chemical Romance show, maybe more, I don't know, Michele is a veteran to concerts, though her preference is for anything sponsored by Z100, but she has been to Warped Tour twice, which is awesome, and her war story is a bloody nose. I'm still impressed by that, lol. And Carissa came to Mulcahy's with me for a show last summer, and at least said that she enjoyed it. If she really did, who knows? But alas I was nervous that they wouldn't like it, but I knew that Sal and Gary would like it definitely. Sal has already seen Chevelle, he went with me when I saw them for the second time, and because of two "scheduling conflicts", this was Gary's first time seeing Chevelle. Since this was my third time seeing them, to be honest, I was more interested to see what Dark New Day was all about. This is a new band, consisting of ex-members of other bands, and a couple are formerly from 2 of my favorite bands, Sevendust and Stereomud. From what I've heard from them, I really liked them, and I knew about them a while ago. When I saw that they were opening for Chevelle, I was really excited. They came on, and the crowd seemed to really respect them. These guys knew what they were doing, and performed their songs very well, and all the songs I liked, except for maybe one. The singer has a really good voice, the band sounded tight, and all around, I thought they put on an excellent show, and I will definitely buy their CD on June 14th. A couple of the songs I recognized were "Brother", "Lean", and "Taking Me Alive" and I didn't really know the names of the other ones, but all in all, I really enjoyed Dark New Day, and it seemed like everyone in my "party" enjoyed them too. The lead singer, Brett Hestla, threw out the towel he was using, and Kamila managed to retrieve it, so a unique souvenir for her, something she can remember, and use, for the rest of her life. I managed to retrieve a guitar pick, the first time ever that I got one, but now I can't find it. I actually found 2, but stupid me, I gave one to Sal. That bastard. Carissa had to leave after Dark New Day, but it was cool that she was a good sport and came along anyway, though she missed Chevelle which sucks. Chevelle did what they always do. They entertained me, and put on a great show, and I was really happy that I got Michele and Kamila to come to this show. Sal and I are used to this by now, but I wanted the girls to experience my music up close and personal. I have to mention that Kamila and Michele were really good sports, and it made me smile to see them dancing around, clapping, smiling, being pushed around and then pushing back, and knowing that they were having a good time made me have a better time. There wasn't really a mosh pit, but just a bunch of idiots pushing the whole crowd around and jumping and stuff, which got rather annoying, and the Mulcahy's security was in full force. A couple of guys around us were really obnoxious, and Sal and I both wanted to hit them, but eventually they were forcefully thrown out by security, and a Grinch-like smile appeared on my face. Good riddance. With the exception of those guys, and this one really, really, riculously awful smelling guy who decided to cut through the crowd and stand right in front of Michele, the crowd was really cool and into it. That guy made Kamila make faces I didn't know her face could make. And poor Michele, this guy kept leaning back and Michele had to move back everytime, but eventually that guy moved, and quite frankly, I hope he got hit by a bus. Anyway, on to the show. The setlist was a little bit different than last time which was cool, and they even included a cover this time. The setlist was as follows: Another Know it All, Vitamin R, Still Running, Emotional Drought, Forfeit, Get Some, Grab Thy Hand, Send the Pain Below, Thieves (originally performed by Ministry), Comfortable Liar, The Red, Closure, Wonder What's Next, Panic Prone and the Clincher. A couple of events to note. The cover they played was pretty cool, a really nice guitar riff, and nobody really knew what it was, so I did some investigating and found out that it was a song called Thieves, by Ministry. An odd choice of cover to say the least, but they performed it well, however, it went on for too long, and since the crowd didn't really know it, they couldn't get into it as much. I enjoyed it a lot until about half way through, and then I got bored with it. Another odd occurence, was the fact that on the very last song, they began to play The Clincher, and there was something wrong with the guitar, so about 40 seconds into the song, the lead singer Pete Loeffler, stopped the song, switched guitars, and started the same song over again. He was cool about it, and it's not like it was his fault or anything, so the crowd didn't mind. The overall experience was great, and seeing the girls sing along to a couple of the songs was satisfying, and also seeing Gary get pissed off that he was being pushed around also made me quite happy, lol. Gary absolutely hates when moshing is around him, so the look in his face when people were being pushed into him was priceless. After the last song, Sam was tossing water out to everyone and we got really wet, so that was nice. Chevelle gets me wet, what can I say? I would also like to point out that after singing a Spanish rock song entitled "Rabia" with Michele, that she is in fact, the coolest person I know. Whether it be working, or going bowling, playing pool, going to the batting cages, going to the diner or just driving around, I always manage to have so much fun with her, and hearing her say "E tu billage, tu killage, e tu Judy, de Turpin tiiiiiime" (our own adaptation of the chorus) really sealed the deal for me, lol. Michele = cool. Anyway, we went to the diner afterwards, had some interesting diner chat, including a moment of time in which we all laughed for no apparent reason, although Kamila definitely won that game, and all in all, a great night. I had a lot of fun, and it seemed like everyone else did as well. One definite minus to the show was the songs that the DJ was playing, by some band called Rush?? Ewww, whatever it was, it was horrific, right Sal?? lol. That's it for now, I have to go deal with my cell phone ordeal. I'll talk to you all soon, peace out.
